Seven dead, as bus goes in flames at Third Mainland Bridge

After a commercial bus caught fire in Lagos on Sunday, seven people have been confirmed dead.

According to reports, at least five other people were said to have sustained various injuries in the terrible incident at Iyana Oworo, close to the Third Mainland Bridge.

The deceased include one male toddler, two adult males, and four females.

The unfortunate bus with the registration number KJA 699 GY was reportedly carrying 14 passengers according to the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).

According to LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, only one male adult was treated on the scene by the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS), and that three female adults who were involved in the event were taken by ambulance to Gbagada General Hospital and the driver only sustained some burns.

“LASTMA officials at the scene have made arrangements to remove the burnt vehicle from the road,” Oke-Osanyintolu said.
