Police suspends recruitment exercise

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has ordered the suspension of the recruitment of police officers for 2022 following police headquarters protests.

In a statement by Ikechukwu Ani, a spokesman for the PSC in Abuja on Tuesday said the suspension of the exercise was intended to resolve all issues in dispute with the Nigerian Police.

The commission said it will continue to strive to provide the people of Nigeria with a police force they are proud of.

Force headquarters said on Monday that it had not commenced the recruitment process for the 2022 batch of officers, contrary to the PSC’s announcement.

On August 11th, the PSC released a statement regarding the opening of recruitment for 2022.

However, Police Headquarters said the advertisement was not in line with the police recruitment process and had nothing to do with the advertisement, urging the public to ignore it.
