Easter Celebration: Police, NSCDC Tighten Security in Worship, Recreation Centres

Security agencies across Nigeria have ramped up security measures to ensure a peaceful Easter celebration. This came as the country joins others in observing Good Friday and the beginning of Easter festivities.

The Nigeria Police Force, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), military, Department of State Services (DSS), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) have all deployed personnel to strategic locations nationwide. These locations include worship centers, shopping malls, amusement parks, and recreational centers.

The DSS is urging Nigerians to stay vigilant throughout the Easter period and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest law enforcement agency. The agency has provided multiple channels for reporting, including their website, email address, and phone lines.

In a statement, the DSS also advised Nigerians to celebrate responsibly. They urged people to avoid illicit drugs, excessive alcohol consumption, and other social vices. The agency emphasized the importance of peace, unity, and inclusivity during this time.

The DSS Director-General further encouraged Nigerians to learn from the life of Jesus Christ and apply his values in their daily lives. The statement highlighted the importance of sacrifice, forgiveness, love for others, self-control, and compassion. The agency also urged Nigerians to reject negativity, such as bitterness, disloyalty, fake news, hate speech, and violence.
