PDP chairman rigged election for Atiku, Wike claims

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State, spoke candidly about what transpired before Atiku Abubakar won the PDP nomination for president on Friday.

According to him, the PDP convention could have been stopped if it weren’t for the affection he and others in his group had for the main opposition party.

The PDP’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, was allegedly instrumental in Atiku’s selection as the party’s flag bearer, according to Wike, who made this revelation during a media debate that was already in progress.

The governor claimed that during the convention, Ayu summoned a number of candidates to withdraw from the primaries for the presidency in favor of the former vice president.

“He was calling aspirants to withdraw for Atiku. I was there, Saraki and others were there.

“He manipulated the delegates. There was nothing Ayu did not do to ensure Wike didn’t emerge,” Wike said.
