Rumors of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s death have been circulating on social media, but his family and disciples have firmly denied them.
This is not the first time such rumors have surfaced. In fact, similar claims spread last August, prompting followers to visit his residence to confirm his wellbeing.
Sheikh Bauchi’s son, Sirr Abdullah Sheikh, took to Facebook to assure everyone that the cleric is “in a good condition of health” and will be returning to Bauchi from Abuja. He denounced the rumors as the work of “religious foes” seeking to disrupt peace.
A disciple, Abubakar Ibrahim Wunti, echoed this sentiment, stating that Sheikh Bauchi is “alive” and simply dealing with the challenges of old age. He emphasized prayers for the Sheikh’s continued health and urged those spreading rumors to find a better path.
The 90-year-old scholar is known for his Quranic Tafsir teachings and leadership within the Tijjaniya Movement in Nigeria. In 2021, he personally addressed death rumors in a voice message, assuring everyone he was alive and had unfinished work to do.
