Osun State First lady’s convoy attacked

The convoy of Ms. Kafayat Oyetra, the wife of Osun governor, was reportedly attacked on Friday night by suspected hoodlums.

Although information about the incident was still sketchy at the time of writing, sources in Owode, Ede, where the incident took place, said Ms Oyetola’s convoy was headed for Osogbo and was circling Owode Market. heard gunfire at around 8pm. on Friday.

A resident of the area, who preferred to simply call himself Alayande, told reporters that trucks blocked traffic when the convoy arrived at the Owode market junction.

“I heard several gunshots where I stood near the junction. It was dark but there was altercation between security men and some people suspected to be hoodlums,” he said.

Osun Police Command spokeswoman Yemisi Opalola did not respond to text messages sent to her regarding the issue at the time of this report’s submission.

However, Olwatunmise Iluyomade, an intelligence officer in the first lady’s office, said the convoy had been attacked.

She said “No life was lost in the incident. Some security personnel attached to the convoy sustained various degrees of injuries.”
