The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has disciplined 19 students, including six final-year students, for offenses ranging from academic dishonesty to assault.
According to a statement released on Monday by the institution’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun, the punishments were handed down following recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee. The expelled or rusticated students were found guilty of offenses including misconduct, theft, cheating on exams, extortion related to hostel rooms, physical assault of another student, and manipulating the admissions process.
The penalties vary depending on the severity of the offense. Some students will face rustication for either one semester or one academic year, while others have been permanently expelled. The students involved were from various academic levels, from freshmen (100 level) to final year (400 level).
