In a major crackdown on the sale of unauthorized drugs, Nigeria’s National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) apprehended multiple drug hawkers and confiscated illegal drugs worth an estimated N50 million during a raid in Lagos.
The operation, conducted by NAFDAC’s Investigation and Enforcement Directorate, targeted drug sellers in the Apapa area and its surroundings, according to a statement released on the agency’s official social media platform on Friday.
A wide variety of illicit medications were seized during the raid, including aphrodisiacs, narcotic substances like tramadol, antibiotics, and over-the-counter drugs.
NAFDAC has vowed to prosecute those arrested and destroy the confiscated drugs. This operation is part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to combat the distribution and sale of unauthorized pharmaceuticals in Nigeria.
