Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party, continued his outreach to Muslim communities across Nigeria as the holy month of Ramadan enters its final ten days, a period considered especially significant.
Sharing photos from his visit to Awka, the capital of Anambra, Obi highlighted his long-standing tradition of connecting with Muslim communities, dating back to his time as Governor of Anambra State.
“I joined them in the blessings of Ramadan fasting and prayers,” Obi said, “and urged them, along with all Nigerians, to keep praying for our nation, especially during these crucial last days.”
He emphasized the importance of unity and perseverance in the face of the country’s challenges, which he acknowledged affect “every single one of us, regardless of religion or ethnicity.”
Obi proposed a shift in national focus, from consumption to production. He pointed to Nigeria’s vast fertile land in the north as a potential solution to food insecurity, suggesting the possibility of not only feeding the nation but also becoming a food exporter.
Expressing his vision for a “New Nigeria,” Obi reiterated his commitment to building a more productive nation. The statement concluded with Obi’s appreciation for the warm hospitality, prayers, and support he received from the Muslim community and their leaders.
