Nigeria’s Education Minister, Professor Tahir Maman, recently met with the Swedish Ambassador, Annika Hahn-Englund, in Abuja. During the meeting, Professor Maman expressed his desire to partner with the Swedish government to leverage technology to improve Nigerian education, particularly for younger children.
He highlighted the presence of numerous Swedish technology companies in Nigeria and advocated for their expertise to be utilized in the education sector. Professor Maman emphasized the importance of exposing children to technology and relevant skills from a young age. This, he believes, will foster their growth alongside technological advancements and equip them with critical thinking abilities necessary for future careers.
The Minister also commended Sweden’s “Education First” program in Nigeria for its support of incorporating indigenous languages into learning, offering scholarships to Nigerian students, and fostering a welcoming environment for them.
