The Federal Government has officially declared Tuesday and Wednesday, April 9th and 10th, 2024, as public holidays to commemorate the conclusion of the Ramadan fast with the Eid-el-Fitr celebration. This announcement, made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, aims to honor and acknowledge the Muslim Ummah’s observance of Ramadan.In his statement, Minister Tunji-Ojo highlighted the importance of embodying values such as kindness, love, tolerance, and peace, as demonstrated by Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
He urged all Nigerians to embrace unity to foster peace and harmony within the nation.Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu has returned to Lagos ahead of the Eid-el-Fitr festivities. His spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale, revealed that President Tinubu will observe the end of Ramadan with prayers and family, emphasizing the solemnity of the occasion.
Vice-President Kashim Shettima has also arrived in Maiduguri in preparation for the Eid-El-Fitr celebrations. Security measures have been heightened in the region, as customary during festive periods, to ensure the safety of residents and visitors.The Eid-El-Fitr celebrations, marking the culmination of Ramadan fasting, are scheduled to take place either on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on the sighting of the new moon, heralding the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal.
