In a disturbing turn of events, the Ondo State Police Command has apprehended three individuals for allegedly possessing human remains.
Oluwafemi Idris, claiming to be an Islamic cleric (Alfa), is among those arrested. Police allege Idris held human hands, hearts, kidneys, a spine, and a tongue within his residence in the Ikare Akoko area.
Authorities believe these parts were intended for ritualistic purposes.
Acting on a tip received in January 2024, police executed a search warrant at Idris’ residence, leading to the discovery.
According to Police Public Relations Officer Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, Idris claims some body parts were obtained from another cleric, “Alhaji,” and an individual named Samuel Kutelu. Idris further alleges he supplied three human heads to Babatunde Kayode, also apprehended.
The aforementioned “Alhaji” and Kutelu are currently being sought by authorities.
