Bayern Munich are again placed in the same group with Barcelona in Thursday’s draw for the UEFA Champions League group stage in Istanbul, Turkey while Erling Haaland would lead Manchester City’s attack as they are paired with Borussia Dortmund.
Last season’s runner-up, Liverpool will face Ajax, Napoli and Rangers in Group A, while current title holders, Real Madrid will face Scottish champions, Celtic as well as RB Leipzig and Shakhtar Donetsk in Group F.
Big money spending Paris Saint-Germain would play Old Lady Juventus as well as Benfica and Israeli champions Maccabi Haifa in Group H.
Chelsea, winners in 2021, will play Italian champions AC Milan as well as Red Bull Salzburg and Dinamo Zagreb in Group E, while Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur will face Europa League champions Eintracht Frankfurt along with Sporting Lisbon and Marseille in Group D.
FC Porto and Atletico Madrid meet for the consecutive season in Group B, which also includes Bayer Leverkusen and Belgian champions Club Brugge.
According to UEFA, the group stage of this year’s season will kick off with the first match taking place on September 6-7.
The six matches will take place over nine weeks, ending on November 1 and 2, with UEFA completing the group stage before the start of the World Cup on November 20.
