Nigerian Army troops have killed at least 11 terrorists in separate operations conducted across Zamfara and Katsina states.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army on Monday, the operations targeted key terrorist enclaves and neutralized a significant number of terrorists in what they described as a raid of the hideout of a well-known terrorist leader, Hassan Yantagwaye, located in the Tsafe Local Government Area
Yantagwaye’s group has been linked to numerous kidnappings and terror attacks across northwestern Nigeria.
The report described the raid as a fierce gunfight resulting in the “neutralization” which led to recovery of a large cache of weapons and ammunition and destruction of the terrorists’ camps.
In neighboring Katsina state, however, a separate operation targeted terrorist hideouts in Shawu Kuka, Shinda, Tafki, Gidan Surajo, and Citakushi villages within the Faskari Local Government Area where eight terrorists were neutralised by the troops.
The operation also yielded the recovery of three locally fabricated guns, military uniforms, and a significant amount of stolen grain, potentially looted from local communities.
