Despite Manchester United’s inconsistent season, 18-year-old Mainoo has emerged as a bright spark. He recently capped his impressive form with a senior England debut and a Man of the Match performance in a draw against Belgium.
While Mainoo missed Thursday’s training session, he did rejoin the squad on Friday. Manager Erik ten Hag remains hopeful the youngster can recover in time for the crucial game.
Ten Hag acknowledged the need to keep Mainoo grounded amidst his rapid rise. “He’s handled the situation very well so far,” he told reporters. “Of course, if he gets carried away, we as a coaching staff will intervene.”
