Kogi Women Rise in Prayer After Brutal Killings in Omala

In response to the horrific killings that claimed 25 lives in Agojeju-Odo, Omala Local Government Area, the Omala Women Forum in Kogi State has declared a three-day fast and prayer vigil.

The group, led by Iye Ebulejonu Of Igala Kingdom, Chief Hon. Alima Abuh, vehemently condemned the attacks. Suspected herders are blamed for the assaults, indiscriminate killings of innocent civilians, and ruthless destruction of property.

Chief Abuh, in a statement released on Sunday, demanded the immediate apprehension and prosecution of the perpetrators to the fullest extent of the law.

“This senseless rampage has resulted in the tragic deaths of countless individuals and millions of naira worth of property destroyed,” the statement lamented. “We have zero tolerance for those who disregard human dignity and peaceful coexistence.”

The Omala Women Forum called upon the government to conduct a swift and comprehensive assessment of the situation in Agojeju-Odo. They emphasized the ongoing nature of the attacks and urged authorities to provide urgent relief to the victims.

Beyond their call for action, the group announced a three-day fasting and prayer initiative across all 11 wards of the local government. Their statement expressed confidence that “the deities of our ancestral lands, as well as the Almighty God we collectively worship, will heed our fervent supplications during this time of mourning and grief.”

The Omala Women Forum concluded their statement by offering heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families. They prayed for the eternal rest of the victims and for solace and comfort for those impacted by this devastating tragedy.
