In a dramatic turn of events, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) successfully repelled an attack on a critical government facility early on Sunday morning. A group of suspected bandits targeted the Federal Government’s grain silo located in Dutsinma Local Government Area, but were met with fierce resistance from the NSCDC’s specialized unit, the Agro Rangers.
NSCDC spokesperson, Mr. Buhari Hamisu, confirmed the incident in a statement released on Sunday. “The attack occurred around 1:00 am,” Hamisu revealed. “According to reports, the bandits intended to not only destroy the silo but also abduct the manager, Mr. Lawal Shitu-Yar’adua.”
Hamisu further praised the swift response of the Agro Rangers. “Our officers reacted promptly and engaged the bandits in an intense gunfight that lasted over two hours,” he said. “The valiant operatives overpowered the criminals,” Hamisu continued, “who were forced to scale the rear fence of the facility and flee the scene with significant injuries.”
The NSCDC’s intervention proved crucial. “Thankfully, the silo sustained no damage,” Hamisu emphasized, “and the criminals failed to achieve their nefarious goals.”
Determined to prevent similar attacks in the future, the NSCDC has taken additional security measures. “We have deployed more personnel to the location and bolstered the firepower of our operatives stationed there,” Hamisu informed the public.
