Benue State has announced the adoption of the 9-3-4 education system, starting in September 2024. Dr. Terna Francis, Director General of the Benue State Education Quality Assurance Agency (BEQA), revealed this on a local radio and TV program.
This new system aims to equip students with practical skills for self-reliance by the end of “Basic Nine.” Certification at this stage will be required to enter “Post Basic” and progress to senior secondary school.
BEQA is committed to supporting this transition through teacher training and innovative teaching methods like “Teaching at the Right Level” (TaRL).
Dr. Francis praised Governor Hyacinth Alia’s focus on improving public schools and urged all stakeholders to join this effort.
