The Academic Staff Union of Universities’ (ASUU) ongoing strike has continued to be protested by university undergraduates under the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) (ASUU).
On Monday morning, a group of students blocked access to and from Murtala Muhammad International Airport in Lagos by blocking the highway there. This gridlock prevented any vehicles from entering or leaving the airport.
In now-viral videos, the demonstrators can be seen in their hundreds pleading with the federal government to grant ASUU’s requests so they may go back to school.
They sang songs of solidarity and held up placards with diverse messages.
To keep things in order, security personnel were stationed around the area.
This development occurs after the students briefly shut down the Ibadan-Ife and Lagos-Ibadan expressways.
Since February 14, ASUU and the federal government have been at odds, resulting in a halt to numerous government-owned tertiary institutions’ educational activities due to unmet demands.
