Actually, a female kangaroo is not called a “flyer.” The term “flyer” refers to a female kangaroo that is pregnant or in the process of carrying a joey (baby kangaroo) in her pouch. The idea behind the term “flyer” is that, while the female kangaroo hops, it can seem as though she’s “flying” due to the way her movement looks. It’s often used informally, but it’s not a universally accepted term.
The actual term for a female kangaroo is simply doe or jill, while a male is called a buck, and a baby is called a joey.
