If you find a baby bird that has fallen from its nest, it’s important to know how to care for it, including feeding. Depending on the age and species, baby birds eat different types of food. For newly hatched or very young birds, they primarily require a soft, moist diet. Insect larvae, worms, or crushed insects are excellent choices. You can also offer hard-boiled eggs or a mixture of baby bird formula that you can purchase from pet stores.
Older chicks may be able to eat small pieces of fruit, seeds, or small insects. Never feed them bread, milk, or processed human food, as it can harm them. If possible, contact a wildlife rehabilitator to ensure the bird gets proper care.
