What is a Service Set Identifier (SSID)?

What is a Service Set Identifier (SSID)?

An SSID is the name of a wireless network:

  • It’s what you see when you search for Wi-Fi networks on your device.
  • For example: If your home Wi-Fi is named “HomeNetwork123,” that’s the SSID.
Users connect to a network by selecting its SSID and entering the correct password (if required).
