The national flower of Indonesia is the Jasmine sambac (Jasminum sambac), commonly known as the Melati Putih. It was officially declared a national symbol in 1990 and represents purity, sacredness, and simplicity. Melati Putih is culturally significant in Indonesia, often used in traditional ceremonies, weddings, and spiritual rituals.
In addition to the Melati Putih, Indonesia also recognizes two other national flowers:
- Moon Orchid (Phalaenopsis amabilis) – Represents grace and charm.
- Rafflesia arnoldii – Known as the world’s largest flower, symbolizing rarity and uniqueness.
These three flowers reflect Indonesia’s rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, showcasing the country’s natural and symbolic beauty.
