HomeQ&AWhat is negative plus negative?

What is negative plus negative?

When you add a negative number to another negative number, the result is a more negative number. In other words, the sum of two negative numbers is always negative.

For example:

(-3) + (-5) = -8

This occurs because both numbers are on the negative side of the number line, so adding them together results in a larger negative value.
