What colors do I mix to make the color red?

To make the color red, you typically don’t need to mix other colors together, as red is a primary color. Primary colors (red, blue, and yellow) cannot be created by mixing other colors, and they are the building blocks for creating all other colors.

If you’re working with a specific type of medium (like paints or digital colors), you may need a specific red pigment or value. However, for traditional mixing in painting or art:

  • Red is one of the primary colors on the color wheel, so it doesn’t need to be mixed to be created. You simply use red pigment, such as cadmium red, crimson, or scarlet, depending on the shade you need.

But to start with pure red, no mixing is required!
