Crocodiles are apex predators, but they’re not invincible! Adult crocodiles are mostly safe from predators, but larger animals like lions, tigers, or jaguars may attack them if the opportunity arises, especially if the crocodile is smaller or out of water. Crocodiles are most vulnerable as eggs or juveniles, and predators like monitor lizards, birds of prey, wild pigs, and other crocodiles frequently eat their eggs or young. In rare cases, large snakes like pythons or anacondas may attempt to overpower and consume crocodiles. Humans, however, remain the biggest threat to crocodiles through hunting and habitat destruction.
