Despite the diversity in cell types, all cells share three fundamental features:
- Cell Membrane:
A protective barrier that surrounds the cell, regulating what enters and exits. It helps maintain the internal environment of the cell. - Cytoplasm:
The gel-like substance inside the cell where all cellular components, such as organelles and molecules, are suspended. It’s where many metabolic reactions occur. - Genetic Material (DNA or RNA):
All cells contain genetic material that provides instructions for growth, function, and reproduction.
These universal features are the building blocks of life, shared by both simple prokaryotic cells (like bacteria) and complex eukaryotic cells (like those in plants and animals).
