Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has been involved in a car accident.
In a report by his spokesman, the President was however not seriously hurt.
Sergii Nykyforov, the president’s spokesman, said in a brief statement that a passenger car collided with the presidential vehicle and his escort on Wednesday.
“The president was examined by a doctor, no serious injuries were found,” he said.
According to the BBC, the driver of the car that collided with the motorcade was treated at the scene and driven away in an ambulance.
Mr Nykyforov stated that law enforcement officers were investigating all aspects of the traffic accident but provided no further details.
Earlier on Wednesday, the 44 year old President Zelensky, paid a visit to the recaptured city of Izyum, a key logistics hub in north-eastern Ukraine where he thanked troops for their quick counter-attack against Russian occupiers and presided over a flag-raising ceremony.
Meanwhile, Russian troops have been forced to retreat in certain regions of the country as a result of recent Ukrainian army advances.
