Oshiomhole lashes Obi over insecurity

Adams Oshiomhole, a former governor of Edo State, has attacked Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s Presidential Flag bearer, over the latter’s suggested response to the problems with insecurity plaguing the nation.

The former national chairman of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), said Peter Obi is merely misleading Nigerians.

“Who was the governor when Bakassi developed in Anambra and who solved the problem?” Mr Oshiomhole queried during an APC youth summit in Abuja on Sunday.

“So, if a man couldn’t fix a security challenge in his own state which requires courage, how can he convince that he would fix the security challenges all over Nigeria?” he retorted.

Peter Obi previously stated that the best solution to the nation’s security challenges under President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime was to lift the people out of “poverty.”

The LP candidate further suggested that each state of the federation be in charge of its own security.

“I have said it repeatedly that if I have the opportunity, every state will be responsible for their security,” Obi stated while speaking to Channels TV.

Oshiomhole questioned why, when in power as governor, Obi was unable to address the security situation in Anambra state.

The LP candidate, he continued, cannot persuade Nigerians that he will solve the country’s security problems because, as governor of Anambra, he was unable to do it.

According to the former APC chairman, Instead of taking care of the security during his term as governor of Anambra, Obi, left the threat for his successor to handle.
