John is traditionally credited with writing five books in the Bible:
- The Gospel of John – One of the four Gospels, this book focuses on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, offering a unique perspective compared to the other Gospels.
- 1 John – A letter (or epistle) that emphasizes love, fellowship with God, and the importance of living according to God’s commandments.
- 2 John – A shorter letter that encourages believers to continue in the truth and love, while warning against false teachers.
- 3 John – Another short letter, this one is written to a man named Gaius, encouraging him to support traveling missionaries and to avoid the actions of a man named Diotrephes who opposed the truth.
- Revelation – A prophetic book that contains visions and symbolic messages about the end of the world, the final victory of good over evil, and the establishment of a new heaven and new earth.
These writings are all attributed to John, the apostle, though there is some debate about the exact authorship of each.
