Capybaras primarily reside in the forest floor layer of the rainforest, the lowest and darkest layer. This layer is home to dense vegetation, fallen leaves, and scattered plants, providing the perfect camouflage for these large, semi-aquatic rodents. Capybaras are often found near water sources like rivers, lakes, and wetlands within the rainforest, as they rely heavily on water for survival. Their diet consists of grasses and aquatic plants, making the forest floor ideal for foraging. Although they spend most of their time on land, they are excellent swimmers and use water to escape predators or cool off in the humid environment.
