Texas Governor Greg Abbott became paralyzed after a tragic accident in 1984. At the age of 26, Abbott was out jogging in his neighborhood in Houston when a large, falling oak tree struck him, causing him to fall and land on his back. The accident resulted in a spinal cord injury, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
Despite the severe injury, Abbott has continued to live a successful and active life, including pursuing a career in law, eventually becoming the Attorney General of Texas before being elected Governor in 2014. He uses a wheelchair for mobility and has been an advocate for disability rights throughout his political career.
