Metals on the periodic table are primarily located in the central and left side, extending from Group 1 to Group 12 (the alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, and transition metals), and a few others in Group 13 to Group 16.
Specifically:
- Alkali metals (Group 1) and Alkaline earth metals (Group 2) start in Row 1 and go down to Row 7.
- Transition metals (Groups 3-12) are located from Row 4 to Row 7.
- Lanthanides and Actinides (inner transition metals) are usually displayed in two rows below the main body of the table, starting from Row 6 and Row 7.
Metals occupy most of the periodic table, but you also have non-metals on the right side (groups 14-18) and metalloids along the staircase line that divides the metals from the non-metals. Would you like more details about a specific group of metals?
