Prior to joining Eterna Plc, Lawal held leadership positions in prominent companies across the globe. He served as the Deputy Managing Director & Chief Financial Officer at Eroton Exploration and Production Company Limited. Lawal’s strategic vision was also instrumental at Oando Plc, where he played a key role as Group Chief Strategy Officer. During his time at Oando, he spearheaded transformative initiatives such as the implementation of Oracle ERP technology, a significant advancement for the company’s operations.
Lawal’s impressive professional journey extends beyond Nigeria’s borders. He served as the Pioneer Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer of Camac Energy Inc. (later known as Erin Energy) in the United States. This pioneering role placed him at the helm of the first Nigerian-owned energy company listed on the prestigious New York Stock Exchange. His experience in the US further demonstrates his adaptability and global perspective.
Lawal’s educational background reflects his dedication to continuous learning and staying ahead of the curve. He holds a Certificate in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a testament to his interest in harnessing the power of cutting-edge technology. He further bolstered his academic credentials with an MBA focused on Finance, Strategy, and Technology from the University of California Irvine. Lawal’s foundational knowledge comes from his Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria.
