The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has hinted at the possibility of a political resolution to secure the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).
Speaking during a special edition of “The Ben Kalu’s Mandate,” a radio program on FLO FM in Umuahia, Abia State, Kalu revealed ongoing discussions with the President aimed at finding a political solution amidst the ongoing legal proceedings concerning Kanu’s case.

While acknowledging the importance of legal processes, Kalu reiterated his preference for a political resolution, expressing his efforts to lobby for Kanu’s release within the corridors of power.
He further emphasized the need for peace in the South East region, urging support for the government while advocating for Kanu’s release. Kalu commended Kanu’s recent statement disassociating IPOB from violence, emphasizing the peaceful nature of the Igbo people.
