The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Uyo Branch, has honoured its former Chairman, Engr. Ukeme Okpob, FNSE, in recognition of his outstanding visionary leadership and for conceiving the idea and laying the foundation for the National Engineering Centre Annex/Uyo Branch Secretariat in 2021.
The prestigious recognition, titled the “Chairman’s Special Award,” celebrates Engr. Okpob’s unwavering commitment, foresight, and remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the NSE Uyo Branch.
The award was presented by the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, Engr. Ali Rabiu, during the Dinner Night and Induction Ceremony for new members held at Flair More Event Centre, Uyo.
Speaking at the event, Engr. Rabiu expressed satisfaction at seeing Engr. Okpob’s vision becomes a reality, describing it as a testament to purposeful leadership and dedication to the engineering profession.
He also commended the current leadership of the branch for sustaining and building upon the legacy established by Engr. Okpob, which ultimately led to the successful completion of the secretariat project.
The NSE President encouraged Engr. Okpob not to relent in his contributions to the development of the Uyo Branch but to extend his wealth of experience and leadership qualities to the national stage for the advancement of the engineering profession in Nigeria.
He congratulated Engr. Okpob on the well-deserved honour and urged other engineers in Akwa Ibom State to emulate his exemplary leadership and commitment to service.
Also speaking, the Chairman of NSE Uyo Branch, Engr. Emem Ezekiel, described the award as a symbol of appreciation for Engr. Okpob’s invaluable contributions to the branch over the years.
He noted that without Engr. Okpob’s vision and commitment, the National Engineering Centre Annex/Uyo Branch Secretariat, which was commissioned earlier, would not have become a reality.
Engr. Ezekiel further appreciated Engr. Okpob for accepting the responsibility of serving as Chairman of the Building Committee and for diligently overseeing the actualisation of the vision he conceived in 2021.
He reiterated that the Chairman’s Special Award was a fitting recognition of Engr. Okpob’s exceptional service and congratulated him on the honour bestowed upon him.
