Israeli Strikes Kill Nine in Palestine

Nine people, including journalists, were killed in Israeli airstrikes in northern Gaza on Saturday, according to Gaza’s civil defense agency. Hamas condemned the attack, calling it a "blatant violation" of the ongoing ceasefire.

Civil defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal said the attack targeted a vehicle in Beit Lahia with a drone strike, followed by artillery shelling. Among the victims were journalists and workers from the Al-Khair Charitable Organization. The injured were taken to the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, with some in critical condition, the health ministry reported.

The Israeli military stated that it targeted “two terrorists” operating a drone that posed a threat to Israeli forces. Later, it said additional individuals collected the drone equipment and entered a vehicle, which was then struck.

Hamas accused Israel of violating the ceasefire agreement, calling the attack a "horrific massacre" against journalists and humanitarian workers. Ismail Thawabteh, director of Hamas-affiliated media in Gaza, said the journalists were using a drone to film a Ramadan dining table when they were directly targeted.

Israel has been conducting regular airstrikes in Gaza since early March, claiming to target militants. Despite the attacks, the ceasefire, which began on January 19, remains in effect, with no agreement yet on its extension.
